Jordanian Society gets the membership of the International Union for Conservation of Nature
Amman, May 8 (Petra)
Jordan Society for the Conservation of Turtles & Tortoises (JSCT) got the membership of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and it’s the first Society of this specialization that gets the membership of the prestigious Union from Jordan and on the level of Middle East and Arab Region.
The chairman of the Society Dr. Abeer Bilbeisi said to the news agency Petra on Sunday 8 th of May, that this achievement comes within the framework of the Kingdom's attention on maintaining the environment and wild sea creatures, pointing out that Jordan has turned to the International confessions, and to encourage organizations working in this field, to get known international certifications.
Bilbeisi which operates also as a member at the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) one of (IUCN) commissions, that the society received a letter of official approval for the membership from the head office of the Union in Switzerland, after four years of hard work and distinctive achievements of the society, pointing out that this membership will open wide doors for the society for cooperation at regional and international level in spite of the difficulties and obstacles that the society faced technically and administratively.
